Search and Replace
has several special switches that are controlled through registry switches that
do not have counterparts in the program options dialog. These switches are not
needed by most users and we therefore left them out of the standard program
options settings. Users who are familiar
with the windows registry can set the special switches manually (write support@funduc.com
for information) but the download below is a
small setup utility that does the work for you. The utility can also reset all the
settings back to program default.
The special settings include:
- Font face
and size for the main dialog (v 4.2+)
- Disable replace functionality
- Enable/disable
raised toolbar buttons
- Enable/disable special "Quiet Mode" during
interactive use (Also in Options|General in v 4.8+)
- Make it so only one instance of the program runs at
once
- Enable/disable display checkboxes in the script
editor
- Special switch for
regular expression counter replacements
- Forcing a temporary 'Max display
characters' setting (Options|General)
- Enable/Disable the Windows Explorer
Extensions related to Search and Replace
- Disable/Enable the internal Context
Viewer to make it so the program will use the editor/viewer you define
in the Options|General 'If no association use' field (v 4.6+)
- Set line prefix strings (v 4.3+). In
ver 4.9+ this is in Options|Display.
- For version 5.0+, make a special
setting so Ctrl+C in the Search Results does not copy extra info about the
search pararameter.
- For version 5.0+, make a special
setting so the program will skip 'binary' files regardless of the File
Mask/Path and/or your filter settings.
- Specify a 'Work Path' to use for some
temporary files if the program is installed in a location where you do not
have write access
- Limit the number of subdirectories the
program will recurse during search/replacing when search subdirectories mode is
enabled (v 4.6+)

The utility is intended for Search and
Replace v 4.3+. However, users who have older versions can still use the
configuration tool. Search and Replace simply disregards any switches that are not
supported in your version.
Usage of the utility is
self-explanatory. Save the download to the path (folder) of your choice and run it to
make the changes. You can run the utility as often as you like.
